DC Sail - Kids Set Sail

Small-boat sailing instruction combines boat handling, knots, navigation and water safety, with separate beginner and advanced tracks.

Diamond Teague Park Piers, 99 Potomac Avenue SE, behind Nationals Park; nearest Metro Navy Yard/Ballpark.

Drop-off 9:30–10am. Pickup 3:45–4pm Monday–Thursday; Friday 2:30pm. No extended care.

Advanced readiness

Ages 12–15, at least 75 lb, three prior Kids Set Sail sessions or documented equivalent, and strong swimming with a life jacket. Instructors coach from nearby boats.

Eight weekly sessions June 22–August 14; $450/week. July 3 closed without a short-week discount.

Equipment & food

Bring your own life jacket, secure water-friendly footwear, sunscreen, water, lunch and snacks. Refrigeration available; financial assistance with a loaner jacket may be possible.

Four or five sailors share a Flying Scot with an onboard instructor. Prior sailing experience is unnecessary.

30+ days: full refund; 14–29 days: 75%; under 14: none. Income-qualified scholarships reduce the weekly cost to $100.
